Antique golden jewelry found (and sold for a good price, +photos)
Sometimes when i’m out detecting, local people approach me and ask me what i am doing, and then they ask if I have found a lot of gold there. Only if these people knew how silly their question sounds. After all, to find gold is very rare and a great success. Of course, those who detect at beaches have a greater chance of finding golden jewelry, but people like me who dig mostly antique, rarely see any gold.
Yet, when a detectorist who digs artifacts manages to find gold, then surely it will cost several times more than gold in a similar weight from the beach. I think most diggers would agree to this statement, especially the one who sold his golden find, a crescent formed antique golden jewelry very recently.
These artifacts were part of the female attire, personifying the moon cult of femininity. Usually it is made of bronze and silver, and the golden version is much less common.
The lucky detectorist who found this golden artifact didn’t think long about the value of the item – he decided to set it for sale at an auction for a minimal starting price. There was 175 bids in total, and the artifact weighing 2.73 grams was finally sold for $650.

Hello Tim, You have to be very careful too as there are loads of fake and reproduction items been passed of as ancient. Provenance would be everything with items such as this.
The old phrase ‘Caveat Emptor’ stands good.. If it seems too good to be true it probably is.
