Makro Pointer pinpointer review
I cannot believe that at first i was going detecting without a pinpointer. I remember when i used like 5 minutes just to find a small coin. With a pinpointer i save a lot of that time.
There are many different pinpointers out there with different features and price tags, and therefore it may be difficult to choose one. That is why i write this reveiw to maybe help some of you choose.
I have had this pinpointer for almost a year now and therfore i can say that i have a lot of “experience” with it. When i bought mine i got it with a set of items: Carrying pouch, two different hard-shell cases (which i willl write more about later), finds bag, belt holster and a 9v battery. (See picture below)
I think that if you buy the pinpointer (new) it comes standard with this set. This set is really great, and i especially like the hard-shell cases. As i already mentioned the two cases are different. One is like a protective coil for the pointer, while the other one has a little scraping blade on it. I use the scraping blade when i detect at the beach or in other places where the dirt is not so hard, for example on some fields. But when i detect in normal or hard dirt i use the other cover, because when you use the one with the scraping blade you will lose a little depth with the pointer. Of course you can also detect without any coil covers, then you will get more depth but i do not recommend it because then you will rip up your pointer and it will break faster. The belt holster is also really great because you can fasten it on your belt (obviously) but in addition to that, if you dont have a belt or your belt is too big you can just “hook” it on (see picture below).
Moving on to the few “cons” of this pointer. Something i personally think is a con is the buttons. To turn it on you need to press the “on” button and wait 1 second before it comes on. To turn it off you have to hold the button for 2 seconds and wait until it finishes “beeping”, indicating that it turns off. And the buttons are a little bit small and a bit hard to press down, so turning it on and off takes some time. But that is not really a big issue. That is probably one of few cons. The second con is the placement of the speaker. When you detect the speaker often gets “under your arm” and gets a little hard to hear. I sometimes even accidentally completley cover the speaker with my arm when detecting (see picture below)
Other things i can say about the pointer is that it is “waterproof” (IP67), it uses one 9v battery (i use rechargable ones) and it has a great led light (good for detecting when it is dark). Overall it is a really great pointer and i highly recommend it!
That is about it for this pinpointer, if you have any questions feel free to ask in the comments!
This was very useful. I am now informed about the Makro Pointer. Thank you Sir
