Review Of The Metal Detector Makro Racer 2, Part 3. (Search Modes, Finds, Conclusion+)
This is the third, and last part of the review of the Makro Racer 2, enjoy!
Search programs.
With the previous parts of this review, we need to understand what and when it is better to use the search programs of this detector. Since for a productive detecting this is necessary, then I want to share my experience on each of the five.
ALL METAL. In this program, the detector discovers all the detected metals in one tone, while the VDI is shown even for deep targets. This search mode has its own section “all metal only” in the menu list with additional settings. It allows the metal detector to see at the depth of detection what other detectors have missed. At all metal, you should go slowly, constantly looking at the display. If there is time, patience and strength, then the finds will only surprise you.
TWO TONE. For many, this program is basic, but I use it no more than others. Here the finds are voiced in two tones: the iron is low tone and the color metals are high tone. This mode has a good detection depth, and can be used at the average coil swiping speed. The sensitivity level you should keep at above 90.
THREE TONE is my favorite mode. In this program three tones can be heard: low, it’s iron; Slightly higher, metals of medium conductivity; High, copper and everything else that falls under the VDI 70. In general, nothing new – the classic version of three tones, which is equipped on quite a lot of models of detectors. The peculiarity of this program is that it is designed for littered places, and therefore does not differ much in depth. But, having set the sensitivity to maximum, the device is still stable, and the depth is quite satisfactory. The coil sweeping speed in three tone does not matter.
BEACH – the “beach” mode. The name of this program speaks for itself. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it allows the metal detector to work on wet sea sand. Also, the “beach” can be used on heavy soils, where another md will give too many false signals. I have not yet had an opportunity to use the beach mode, but when I will go on vacation to the sea, I will definitely take the Racer 2 with me.
DEEP – deep mode. As in the two tone mode, finds are voiced in two tones. Very deep mode resembles the recommendations that give on the use of large coils – “for finishing the place”. The sensitivity cannot be very high, and the signal should be listened to carefully, since deep targets always sound short and quiet.
By pressing the button or “left” or “right” you can quickly change the search mode, and you do not need to carry out the balancing on the ground again.
Knowing when and which program to use, you can maximize the effectiveness of detecting.
The first curious test with the Makro Racer 2.
I have one place that I detect on in autumn and spring every year, and so I have been doing for 5 years already. I like to go there because every time some coins appear + this is a great place to test metal detectors. And all because the amount of iron garbage on the site is very dense and how the detector will cope with it, is always interesting.
This spring, the owner of the field plowed literally a small strip in that place.
So why not arrange a test for Racer 2, which will be as close as possible to the actual detecting? That’s what it’s all about: first in a circle with the Berkut 5, and then, the same thing I with the Makro. And therefore, I draw conclusions.
AKA Berkut 5 is a good metal detector, although from the semi-professional level, but it is built much more difficult than the Racer.
Passing one side, I began to get nervous – the coins were there, but they all lay on the surface, not even wet, but already dry! Three centimeters of depth is far from what you would like.
The result of the detecting from the AKA Berkut 5 is as follows:
I think that this result is because of the coil, rather than the detector. It is the Nel Hunter.
Makro Racer 2 is set up this way: the program Is at three tone, the gain at 80 and id filter at 6.
The first few meters the few targets I found cheered me up – the metal detector found them at a good depth.
The first coin did not take long to wait.
But the second coin cheered me up – it was raised practically between two holes.
The third coin was also found near the buried pit at a depth of 15-18 cm.
I did not dig more coins, but there was some more of aluminum.
The result of the passage after the Golden Eagle with Racer is this:
AKA Berkut 5 missed 60% of the coins, because they were deeper.
In this test, it is indicative not that Macro Racer 2 copes better in a littered place, but the fact that the metal detectors of the AKA are the same as the Deus; having a lot of adjustments that may not be precisely adjusted for a particular section leads to more than half Omissions of valuable finds. And it turns out that I had to change the settings each time to bypass the plowed strip and so on until I picked up the ideal parameters for the search. Sometimes, you walk around with the Berkut, and in your head these thought turns: “Is the device rightly set?”. The same is probably thought by the owners of the Deus.
Having finished with the test, I was left to wander with the Racer and with the same settings to neighboring sites. The result of my two-hour cop with the Turkish detector that day was this:
Conclusion.
The Turkish metal detector Makro Racer 2 is my first professional level device, which I managed to learn and to practice it normally. After I came to understand that in my hands I held a powerful detector, the finds on the “empty” places came back.
Racer 2 in the setup is so simple that even a beginner can adjust it. Just don’t set the sensitivity too high, because then the metal detector will be difficult to understand at the start. But when you get used to the “chatter” of the detector and you can increase the sensitivity to the maximum, and the finds will appear even more.
I do not say goodbye to Macro Racer 2 – I will still use it for a while. After all, I want to try it at night search, for which the metal detector has everything you need, and I need to spend more time on A \ M mode. And I will also have to re-check the old places where I have used the Golden Eagle 5. Because 60% of the finds are still waiting for me.
