HF Elliptical 24×13 cm Coil For The XP Deus! (Review, Photos+)
Greetings, fellow diggers!
It so happened that we slowly study the XP Deus and the coils to it, and just recently I got my hands on something that I borrowed from a friend, who mainly detects at the beaches of the sea. This thing was a high-frequency elliptical coil for the Deus, and I decided to make a small review and opinion on this coil.
The HF elliptical coil was introduced in 2017 as an excellent addition to the Deus upgrade to version 4. Initially, the coil was thought out as an accessory for finding gold nuggets, but thanks to the presence of three frequencies, where the lower frequency is 14 kHz, and the highest 80 kHz, with a frequency of 26 kHz between them. This turned out to be a not so bad set not only to find nuggets but also for jewelry, small coins and on the beach!
The battery is inserted into the bar, and therefore the weight of the coil (444 g.) should be understood as together with the rod and battery. Without the rod, the coil weighs even less. It is charged as standard via a normal charging for all XP Deus coils.
The size of the coil is 24×13 cm, try to measure that on the ruler how much it is. The coil is really compact and it can be called a real sniper coil for the XP Deus, because it divides the nearby objects in the ground just fine, which I checked during my detecting with her. I went to the field, where there used to be more than 39 houses, judging by an old map. These places have been plowed multiple times, and all the interesting finds are mixed and often very close to each other. The top in this place has long ago been detected, especially by the road, which means that it’s more promising to dig deep signals or places with a high finds concentration. And for such a task this coil fits perfectly.
The Deus with this coil turns into an even more compact detector. Working with this coil, I realized that it would be perfect for hoards! I tried various settings with it, but I stopped on my program, which I call “Park”, I only made some changes:
On the basis of the 3rd program, Deus Fast (Deus Fast) make small changes that can vary from your search conditions and locations:
Discrimination 4.2 (expert – 3 tones, expert in tones: (put according to your hearing), I put 202 Hz, 559 Hz, 835 Hz)
Sensitivity 97
Frequency 26 kHz
Iron vol. 0
Reactivity 2.5 (expert – silencer 1)
Audio response 6 (Expert – audio overload 1)
Notch 00-00
Now to the G.B. settings:
Tracking, expert – do not notch anything, ground sensitivity at 5 (depends on your location).
Manual G.B. 88.
These settings gave me the following – quick work of the metal detector without a significant loss in depth (looking at the size of the coil, it can be said that the depth for it is not the main task, it’s a sniper coil), a good detector for small targets and signals, which allows me to find small coins and ancient Medieval silver. Iron is rarely heard, which is good and does not distract you from detecting and does not overload our attention with an endless trill of signals. If you have your options settings, then share them in the comments, we all will be happy!
With this size of a coil, it is very fast and convenient to find the center of the target, even very small ones. As often happens, that with the larger coils more small target tend to “move” from side to side, and then it is necessary to work with the pin-pointer and expand the pit. With such a coil this is not the case, with some experience comes an understanding of where the target is and what other objects are next to this signal. I even dug out small pieces of a broken bell that lay in a radius of 30 cm next to each other. It was clear what was where, and it is very convenient to maneuver the coil in locating small metal objects in the ground.
Actually, in the photo above you can see the results of detecting in a trashy area for 30 minutes. Here we have many missed signals from other fellow detectorists – we have buttons, parts of a broken bell, and an interesting piece from a cartridge case (possibly a revolver) of foreign production.
My conclusions on the HF elliptical coil
The coil was originally developed for a wide range of tasks for certain types of detecting and, in whole, it justifies itself for these tasks, namely: searching for gold nuggets, littered areas (like a sniper), parks and detecting on the beaches. I would also add that with this size, the coil is perfect for searching in the forest/bushes because it can quickly get into the narrowest places where the power and compact size is the most important.
If you are the owner of an XP Deus and you need a coil for these tasks, then you need to take it. It will even be good for small coins in the field, but for this, it’s better to have a round HF 9″, which will give the maximum of a couple of centimeters in addition to the depth. And for the beach, this coil is a must!
Good luck out detecting!
Ive had the Deus since almost its introduction, the only coil Ive not used is the X35 11×13 version ive used all others in there original format ,ive bought and sold both the HF coils but have recently added again the HF Elliptical because Ive a Romano British site which produces very small coins I use the settings that have become the Hot program theres iron which hides many of the good targets this coil gets in between very nicely twenty six and Fourteen kHertz produces your not going to get deep bronzes but silver being the best conducter gives you a good signal the nine inch HF is a good coil but not for general detecting IMO …
